School management and dev. committee meeting
ITANAGAR, Jun 25: Infrastructure shortage and various other problems faced by Govt. Middle School, Emchi, Doimukh came up for discussion in the first School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) meeting of the year held under the chairmanship of SMDC chairman Nabam Taba.
The committee took stock of all the classrooms and other buildings and observed that the infrastructural facility in the school was in a very deplorable condition. Shortage of benches and desks in the classrooms; the dripping of water from the dilapidated ceilings; the damaged classroom floors, the wrecked classroom doors and windows, lack of proper electrification, etc. were the some of the major problems, observed by the SMDC members.
The Committee appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the infrastructural problems of the school and grant necessary funds.

The meeting also expressed their bewilderment over the Right to Education Act (RTE) and questioned the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh and authorities concerned that as to how the school devoid of school admission fee and government grants could run.
“Even after a long time, since the Act was enforced, the state government has utterly failed in its practical implementation,” the meeting observed.

ITANAGAR, Jun 25: The All Bogong Students Union (ABSU) observed the 19th death anniversary of Onyok Moyong as Martyr day.
The occasion was attended by the office bearers of Bogong Banggo Kebang (BBK) and Bogong Banggo Yameng Kebang (BBYK), All Bogong Students Union (ABSU) along with executive members, senior and former executive members of the union besides general public of Bogong Banggo.
This day is observed every year as martyr day in memory of Onyok Moyong, who was brutally shot by police on June 25, 1993.
Alleged rape case takes new turn
ITANAGAR, Jun 25: The reported recent rape case in Doimukh area takes a new turn as the All Nanghi, Natung Moya and Tacho Welfare Society (ANNMTWS) and All Papu Valley Women Welfare Society (APVWS) today claimed that it was a plan of the wife of the alleged accused.
The minor girl, reported to be raped, was adopted by wife of alleged accused even before she was married, the Societies said. The Societies further said that the wife misled the Doimukh Nyem Welfare Society (DNWS).
Both the Societies condemned the DNWS “of being biased in their act” saying they should have understood the case properly before launching the rally and defaming a person.
AKA selection trial
ITANAGAR, Jun 25: Arunachal Karate Do Association (AKA) would conduct selection trial for the 25th AIKF Senior National Karate Do Championship to be held in New Delhi on August 17 and 18 next.
Karatekas, who have won atleast a bronze medal in state level competitions held in 2010 and 2011 and those who have qualified AIKF black belt, would be eligible to participate in the selection trial to be held in Sport Authority of India Special Area Game (SAI SAG) Centre at Naharlagun on July 7 at 8 am onwards. Those players, who have participated in AKF and WKF championship would be given priority. However, AKA may consider those outstanding karates, who could not take part in the state championship due to unavoidable circumstances, for the selection trial. All the karatekas are advised to bring their own safety guards during the selection trail.

BORDUMSA: 100 people were rescued today from Bijoypur 1 by local administration using country boats. They were later shifted to relief camp. ADC Kento Riba informed that Army boats will be pressed into service on Tuesday morning at Bijoypur III where 55 families are still stranded. Emergency medical teams are in the area monitored by the DMO.
Since June 23, the water level of Noa Dehing river is flowing above danger level submerging all the adjoining villages of Bijoypur I, II & III under Bordumsa Circle.
Administration has set up two numbers of relief camps with medical facilities at Bijoypur III village. Bijoypur I village has borne the maximum wrath of nature and nearly 61 houses are still partially submerged under water.
The flood situation at Diyun Circle is also at critical stage. Noa Dehing River is flowing above danger level at Maitripur, Gautampur, Santipur, Jyotipur, Dumpani and Mudoi village. Spur No.1 of Antierosion Project at Diyun has been partially damaged. Embankment and spurs constructed under the CSS Project “Anti erosion work on Noa Dehing River to Protect Diyun Township” has prevented the flood water from entering the Diyun Township and adjoining villages. However unabated erosion is going on at upstream and downstream of the present project, informed B K Karki, EE WRD, Bordumsa.

PASIGHAT: River Siang is flowing over the danger mark at various places, particularly at Pasighat. During an emergency meeting of District Disaster Management (DDM) Deputy Commissioner RK Mishra informed that the District Administration is closely monitoring the developments.
Mishra asked the officers of disaster mangement, police, medical, food and civil supply, water and sanitation and also road and transport departments to be prepared for any eventualities.
A team of officers later visited the river banks and advised the public residing adjacent to the river and in the low lying areas to be careful, reports DIPRO.

Naharlagun: The Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner has issued caution notice to those who have built OBT/SPT/RCC type structures and staying on the river beds, along and nearby natural Nallahs and streams and beneath the hill locks in the Capital Complex area without taking adequate protection measures.
Fearing heavy water flow in natural drainage channels, during the monsoon period, the DC forewarned that casualties in such unauthorized settlements cannot be ruled out and asked the Capital dwellers to stay away from such unauthorized locations. Anyone living unauthorizedly at such locations are living at their own risks and the administration shall not the responsible for loss of life and property, he further warned.

Reportedly two houses were washed out due to landslide at Aiso village of Anelih Circle. Also, DBM Company’s camp at Athunli village was completely washed away. Rain devastates road communication

ITANAGAR, Jun 25: Heavy rains continue to disrupt road communication in Lower Dibang Valley, Dibang Valley, Lohit and Anjaw districts with India Meteorological Department predicting more rainfall in next 48 hours which is likely to continue till next month.

“If these disruptions of road communication are not attended to at the earliest, it will lead to shortages of all essential items,” said Awailiang expressing concern on the growing crisis.
In Anini, the situation is no better. A meeting was held today by the district administration to meet the food crisis caused by continued road disruption and to seek suggestions from the public.

District fisheries dept. distributes 1 lakh fish seeds
ITANAGAR, Jun 25: Department of Fisheries, Papum Pare distributed over one lakh fish seed to over 100 fish farmers free of cost at Govt. Fish Farm, Emchi covering Sagalee, Doimukh and Mengio circles in order to popularize fish farming..
District Fisheries Development Officer (DFDO) Nabam Tania stressed the importance of distributing such fish seeds for the growth of fisheries sector. Further it is a powerful economic and employment generating activity apart from supplementing protein rich diet, he added.
Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu and Director of Fisheries J Taba distributed fish seeds to Tana Akin Tara, a progressive fish farmer of Midpu village and Tana Hari of Emchi respectively.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the programme undertaken by the DFDO and insisted upon the farmers to take up the activity scientifically for more fish production.
The distribution of fish seeds to cover the remaining circles of the district will be carried out on June 28 and July 2.
Siram urges teachers to live upto society’s expectation
PASIGHAT, Jun 25: Describing teaching as noblest of all professions, Education Minister Bosiram Siram exhorted the school teachers to live upto society’s expectation by imparting the right education to students.
The Education Minister, who along with officers of education department and RWD made an unannounced visit to Mirbuk Secondary School and D. Ering Memorial Middle School here today, said that the State Government is doing everything possible to raise the status and prestige of teachers and, therefore, they should reciprocate the same by discharging their duty properly.
Interacting with the teachers, he urged them to always update their knowledge on latest education policies, rules and directives of the state government so that no wrong information is passed to the public. Expressing his strong resentment over absenteeism by teachers and their reluctance to stay at their posting places, especially in remote areas, the Education Minister called upon the teachers to give up this practice in the greater interest of the society and students in particular.
The minister informed that the government is making all efforts to disburse the salaries of SSA teachers in time. Textbooks are made available in all the schools for smooth teaching and learning process, he said.
He appreciated the teachers, especially the lady teachers of Mirbuk Sec. School for bringing good result in the last class X examination. Replying to the demands of the school managing committee of D Ering Memorial Upper Primary School, the minister assured to post one peon cum chowkidar on priority. RUKSIN, Jun 25: Mirem-
The people of the two villages are facing great hardship to reach Ruksin town, located at 3 km away from their villages, for official works, medical treatment and other purposes as there is no alternative routes.
The historical MMJ road is the lifeline for the interior villages at Mirem, Mikong and Bilat and Ledum. It is also a subway from Ruksin to Pasighat and also a lifeline for the villages like Miglung, Remi and Yagrung and most of the food items and agricultural products are transported to this area through this route.
The PWD has assured to repair the collapsed bridge. But it will take time, he said.
The villagers have demanded the authority for early construction of a temporary bridge for partial restoration of communication along the road.

Let’s make a fresh start
Dear Editor,
New session of colleges in State will be starting soon. Therefore I request through this daily to all the teachers of every college to please complete the syllabus on time. We are starving for knowledge and want to have a bright future. The effect of incomplete syllabus is clearly visible in our academic performance due to which we may not be able to qualify to pursue higher studies. There is a trend in colleges that only half of the syllabuses are taught just to clear the examinations which completely affects our future as well as clearing competitive examinations.
The main reasons for incomplete of syllabus are due to shortage in number of classrooms and teachers with increasing numbers of students. And one of the main reasons is less number of teaching periods, as most of the valuable times are wasted on tribes wise and districts wise fresher’s meets, farewells, picnics, pre festivals etc. We know that these are part of social development but for it we can have a single college fresher’s meet, single college picnic and may have a department wise farewell.
It will save lots of valuable times to complete our syllabus in due time.
And another reason to shatter our future in every possible way is unexpected bandhs by the community and students' unions, which bears the names for students but hardly care for the students.
So with great hopes, I request all the college authorities to take measures to minimize unnecessary college activities or functions so that number of teaching periods could be increased. Please increase the numbers of classrooms and teachers too.
And also request all the community and students' unions, enough of bandh calls it's not helping us at all. Try something appropriate for the sake of students. We need changes to develop ourselves, for the state and for the nation.

Dear Editor,
I often find that most of the people waste their time on movies, serials, music, internet etc. Instead, why not give a little attention to a programme which is impartial, rational, and inspirational and in fact create social awareness among the citizens.
Satyamev Jayate is an Indian television talk show that airs on various channels within Star Network along with Doordarshan's DD National. The show premiered on May 6, 2012 and is anchored by Bollywood actor and filmmaker Aamir Khan.
Satyamev Jayte highlight different aspects of problems related to us. The show highlighted sensitive social issues such as female foeticide, child sexual abuse, dowry, medical malpractice, honor killings, physical disabilities, domestic violence and adverse effect of pesticides. The show is concerned for the people of all age group – children, adolescence, adults and old. This show is opening up peoples mind to issues that we choose to ignore most of the times. After watching this programme at least the people could analyze their concerns at their own level.

BSNL services
Dear Editor,
This is regarding BSNL services at Liromoba. Since the BSNL Tower was set up at Liromoba, the services have never been good. Even when network shows full strength on cell phones but when one makes a call it is always not reachable and there is error in connection.
Many complaints have gone to BSNL offices in Itanagar and Aalo, nothing has changed other than fake promises.
There is another tower erected at Darak, the circle headquarters since 2010 but this one also is not working.
We the Kargu Kardi Students’ Union (KKSU) appeal to the higher authority of BSNL to look into the matter seriously and provide better network to the people of Liromoba circle and Darak.

You are well aware of the fact that student studying at Govt School of Arunachal Pradesh are mostly from remote villages with very poor financial background. At Likabali Sub Division earlier when RTE was not implemented the fees were less and admission was easy to get.
Now the admission fees has been raised, books and note books are to be purchased
from market and uniform are different for different classes and every year new headmaster/principal
comes and changes the uniform. For an admission form it takes Rs 10/-

The road leading to RKM Hospital
Dear Editor,
I would like to appeal to RK Misson Hospital Itangar to please do something about the road connecting the hospital. One wonders how people negotiate that stretch of road leading to the gate.
It won’t be a surprise if some patient on labour delivers the baby at the gate or an appendix burst and a heart patient dies due to jerking.
Least the hospital can do is to fill the area with some pebbles so that distress of the patients due to bad road is minimized. It’s just 5 meters length leading to the hospital gate so hospital authorities can ask one of the local contractors to do the needful or hospital can take it up on its own. It won’t cost much.

Between old and the new
Dear Editor,
Society is in instant fear of few countable individuals of the same society who dare to speak the truth, expose the corruption & face consequences.
Many speak of corruption, social evils & crimes but few individuals only dare to expose their thoughts against it through print/electronic media and to the appropriate authority but again hundreds will be there to criticize their daring deeds and thousands will be there again murmuring in support of it in some corner of four walls.
It is the society who encourages the young generations to stand against the evils of the society but it is the same society who discourages/murders the infant daredevils of the society. This is called the civilized society where we live in, where concrete structures are thought to be signs of development, where state attains statehood in absence four independent pillars of democracy and where RTI is considered as right to irritate.
The society is itself in conflict as old traditional pattern of thoughts are unavailable to copy and paste the mantra of new thoughts of today’s world as fight is not between the individuals or groups rather fight is between the two opposite thoughts of old and new.
